Theoretical exams for the PPL(A) license at the Civil Aviation Authority<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Theory exams for the PPL(A) license in Poland are administered by Civil Aviation Authority (CAA)<\/strong> and are a mandatory part of the flight training process. A candidate may take the exams after completing theoretical training at an approved ATO or DTO.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Scope of the theory exams<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The PPL(A) written exam covers 9 items<\/strong>, in accordance with EASA regulations (Part-FCL):<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  2. Human Performance: Capabilities and Limitations<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Meteorology<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Communications (VFR)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. Flight Rules<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  6. Operating Procedures<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  7. Performance and flight planning<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  8. Navigation<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  9. General knowledge of aircraft<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    The exams are administered in the form of single-choice tests<\/strong> in the computer system. Each course is graded separately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Passing criteria<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
      \n
    • Minimum passing score:\u00a075% correct answers<\/strong>\u00a0for each subject<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Exams must be passed within a specified time frame (the session and deadline limits are set forth in ULC\/EASA regulations)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Once all courses have been passed, the grades serve as the basis for admission to the practical exam<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      Practical Exam (Skill Test) for the PPL(A) license<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

      The practical exam, known as Skill Test<\/strong>... is the final stage of the process of obtaining a PPL(A) license. It takes place after completing the flight training and passing the written exams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      The practical exam procedure<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

      The exam is administered by FE(A) flight examiner<\/strong> authorized by the Civil Aviation Authority (ULC). It consists of two main parts:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      1. Ground segment (briefing)<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

      • review of documents (student license, aviation medical examination, flight hours)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • flight planning<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • questions on procedures, performance, meteorology, and aviation law<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Aeronautical Decision Making (ADM)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

        2. The aerial section<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

        The exam covers, among other things:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        • pre-flight preparation and checklists<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • basic maneuvers (turns, level flight, stalls)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • emergencies (e.g., engine failure)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • circling and landing approaches<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • VFR flight<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • proper radio communication<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • adherence to safety rules and situational awareness<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

          Evaluation criteria<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

          The examiner evaluates:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          • proper piloting technique<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • knowledge of procedures<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • operational safety<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • flight management and decision-making<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

            If a student fails a portion of the exam, they may retake it in accordance with the rules established by the Civil Aviation Authority (ULC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            The Importance of Exams in the PPL(A) Training Process<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

            The theoretical and practical exams at the Civil Aviation Authority (ULC) are designed to confirm that the candidate:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            • has the required aviation knowledge,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            • is able to safely conduct VFR flights as pilot-in-command,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            • understands the responsibilities that come with holding a PPL(A) license.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
